Exec Committee 2015-6

Meet the society Executive committee for the academic year 2015-16!

President:

Tim Selman
Hello! I’m Tim (pictured here with Gilbert Sullivan, our society mascot!). I am a final year Music student, President, and MD of this year’s production of HMS Pinafore. As President, it’s my job to make you feel at home and to help you out if you have any problems or queries. Should you need me, or if you want to get in touch with me – drop me an email, or come up and say hello in rehearsals, at social events or if you see me around campus! I hope to see you around at some point and look forward to working with you!

I became President of the society as well as MD this year having been a successful MD for ‘Pirates’, and generally helping out with the running of the show– having to be rehearsal pianist and manage the orchestra last year; I’m extremely glad to have an invaluable team working with him to produce an amazing show this year. As President my role involves organising events, booking rooms, and making sure every member gets the most of their time in the society!

Vice President:

Ruby Hawley
Hi, I’m Ruby, a second year English student here at UoN. Having had a brilliant time when playing Kate in last year’s ‘Pirates of Penzance’, I stood for Vice President because I feel strongly invested in ensuring the society’s future success. My role as Vice President mainly involves deputising for and assisting the President (Tim) and liaising between him and the rest of the committee and society, as well as admin and organisational jobs such as the recruitment of the creative team, not to mention the general overseeing of the smooth running of things!

Although I was initially dragged along by a friend, I felt instantly welcome in this uniquely silly society. Having been elected as VP (and unofficial ‘committee mum’), I also decided to put myself forward to direct HMS Pinafore, which I’m now overwhelmingly excited about!

Treasurer:

Jonathan Salt
Hello! I am Jon, and I am a second year Medical Physiology and Therapeutics student at Nottingham University. Since joining the society last year, and playing the part of Samuel in last year’s production of ‘The Pirates of Penzance’, I have become somewhat addicted to theatre, particularly Gilbert and Sullivan. This year, I am taking on the role of treasurer, which primarily involves managing the books of the society, ensuring that funding is well allocated to produce the best show possible in March 2016. Alongside this, I have been unofficially designated as the society’s ‘Accoutrements Officer’ (general handyman) to sort out odd jobs, and locate specific things for the society. I am very much looking forward to working on this year’s show, and am raring to go!

Secretary:

Emory Cunnington
Hi, I’m Emory Cunnington and I’m the General Secretary for the Gilbert and Sullivan society, which means I’m in charge of all the admin and looking after the members of the society. I’m a 2nd year zoology student who joined the society last year. I love singing, and it looked like a good opportunity to get involved in something fun and light hearted, without worrying too much about auditions or theatre divas. Also, every family member who went to this university has joined, so now it’s become something of a tradition. I had a really great time last year performing in The Pirates of Penzance, and am looking forward to being part of this year’s production of HMS Pinafore.
